Rob and Cindy (Shomo) North have served on the Australia/New Zealand Field since January of 2024.
When Cindy was with us on February 16th, she shared the exciting stories of how the Lord called them, is providing for them, and has already been using them in the “outback.” On that same Sunday, Rob was in Florida doing the same. They are dedicated to doing all they can to spread the joy of how God is working and moving around the world.
For Rob & Cindy, last year was filled with the thrilling process of securing and testing the Land Cruiser (bush vehicle) named “Beast” and the Caravan (travel trailer) named “Beauty,” which will be their home as they walk alongside Jongil Kim, a 29 year missionary working with Aboriginal people in Australia. The very day they arrived back in Australia in August, God connected the Norths with the caravan they would buy and in two more weeks the Land Cruiser. Rob & Cindy spent the last three months of 2024 trekking across Australia putting Beauty and Beast through 3 test trips. You can read about God’s faithfulness on their website (www.RobandCindyNorth.com); click “STORIES.”
Previously, Rob & Cindy served at Africa Nazarene University (ANU), in Nairobi, Kenya. Cindy was Director of Spiritual Development (Chaplain) and Rob was Director of University Advancement. Over two-thirds of their ministry has been spent investing in the next generation of Christ followers on university & Bible college campuses in Oklahoma, South Africa, Tennessee, Kansas, and Kenya. Prior to ANU, the Norths served 6 years as missionaries in Johannesburg, South Africa; Rob also served 8 years as Senior Administrator for Nazarene Missions International (NMI). Currently, Rob serves as Director of Development for Asia Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary (APTNS) in Manila, Philippines.
Cindy is an ordained elder with experience in children’s, youth, and adult discipleship ministry as well as university education, compassionate ministry, and urban ministry. She completed her Doctor of Ministries (D.Min.), with an emphasis in Spiritual Formation at Asbury Theological Seminary in May of 2010. Her calling includes a focus on spiritual renewal for the body of Christ through her writing, preaching, and leading prayer retreats.
Rob and Cindy are passionate in their love for Jesus and the call to make disciples. They are excited to share the story of God’s kingdom work around the globe. They have two adult sons, Quinn with his wife, Amanda, and Jordan.
We were able to give the Norths over $500 for their deputation offering on the 16th PLUS your Church Board designated $1500 of our excess 2023 & 2024 Faith Promise funds to partner with Rob & Cindy over the next two years. We will receive regular updates on their ministry from Australia and will keep you informed via the bulletin and this web site.
